I can not wait for this election to be over. Not out of anticipation for the winner and whatever “change’ we can find, but so I can sit in front of a television or computer without being pummeled with political advertising.
Being involved with Advertising and Marketing, I have been extremely frustrated by the increase in political advertising. I wonder how it affects companies and organizations that typically use this commercial time to market their product or services. Does this affect their sales and revenues, which in turn affects our economy as a whole, which is everything these politicians preach against? Could this air time be used for a better purpose than opponent-bashing and mudslinging? There have been more commercials than any other election I have ever seen, and the amounts of money used for two campaigns alone is alarming. Just now there were six straight political campaign commercials, in between two sections of the news, both of which involved (you can guess it), the election.
November 5th, could you please come quicker? And Florida, get those votes in and lets not delay the process any longer. When will I see timeshare ads, Geico lizards, and unprofessional car dealership commercials? I never thought it’d come to this, but I miss them.
