Summertime blogging has been… well, a bust. I’m sitting in the San Antonio airport with some rare free wifi waiting on my own itinerary to Columbus to work itself out.
Southwest has allowed me to do so much travelling, and it is such a blessing. Let’s just take a look at my list of adventures:
Columbus, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Chicago, St. Louis, Nashville, Baltimore, Little Rock, Birmingham, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Austin, and hopefully Albequerque and San Diego to come.
Some of the Happenings of my summer:
- Reading: I have read 4 books and working on my forth at the time. May not sound like much, but for me its a record. Working on reading “Crazy Love” right now, along with “Emotional Branding” and “Love is the Killer App”.
- Events:Red Bull Motocross X-Fighters Championship, Cleveland Indians Game, Pittsburgh Pirates Game, 6 Rangers Games, trip to Idea City (Austin), Camp NEOSA for a weekend, Mewithoutyou, Maps & Atlases, and Gasoline Heart, and the upcoming Office Olympics ( I will be participating in the Synchronized Ribbon Dance).
- People:Wonderful relationships with people from Southwest Airlines, the many people I meet and talk to on the weekend airplane trips, and communicating with as many people as I can from back home.
- Family– spending time with cousins I haven’t seen in forever and living with my grandparents, which is so much fun.
- Fitness- Most consistent running and working out I have ever done in my entire life. Usually running 4-5 times a week.
- Music: Experimenting with new music on a daily basis, thanks to Pandora, Steven Abraham, and random searches. Maps & Atlases is the summer favorite. Jason Mraz’s new CD is the driving album of the summer.
- Other Travels: My 1993 Grand Am, also known as “Amy” has reached over 180,000 miles and is still kicking. This week my left rear speaker blew out when I was listening to music at a very soft level. This leaves me with my front left speaker to supply all of my music needs. I have a bag of peanuts sitting in the back alongside a trunk filled with random things Chelsea left from the trip down.
Sometimes I walk around the airport with my iPod in, listening to music that makes me feel hardcore. Everyone has this music somewhere on their iPod. These are the songs that you listen to and they affect everything about you; your facial expressions, the strolling walk through the crowds, how you hold your coffee cup. This is best suited with a nice pair of sunglasses, obviously worn inside so that occasionally someone may look at you and you can only imagine them thinking you are a celebrity. Today’s choice music: Moby.
A 7th grade boy sat next to me last weekend on my way back to Texas. He asked what I did and when I told him I did Advertising for Southwest Airlines, he got excited and said that he recognized me from one of the commercials. I’m yet to find this commercial, but if there is one, I better be getting my cut in the mail soon.
