I was fortunate to see an advanced screening of “Lone Survivor” this week. The cinematography is both gorgeous and authentic, with an array of haunting camera shakes and light glares overlooking stunning views. Explosions in the Sky drives the film soundtrack with it’s proven builds and emotional roller coasters. Director Peter Berg does a great job of telling the 2005 Navy Seals “Operation Red Wings” story, with plot builds and suspense unlike any other piece he’s done.
Graphic, by nature, and not meant for a viewer that gets stirred up by senses of pain and terror. But the brotherhood and commitment that we’ve come to know about our Seals is very evident and portrayed well by Wahlberg, Hitsch (FNL), Hirsch (into the wild), and Foster (3:10 to Yuma).
