to the voices gone unspoken
to the hands that have no one to hold them

give them a song to carry on and spark some hope
let it march into their hearts and give them hope

On Saturday night, local flavor met a global cause. Bright lights shined over guitars and drumsets, passionate people crowded into Ibiza 33, and the room quickly filled with the scent of Kenyan coffee. I watched in joy as young people poured their souls into music, one of the driving forces of my own life. From the back of the room dancing, to the blood dripping from the drummers hand, I was just overwhelmed with emotion from the Extended Melody Project. I couldn’t ask for a better community of people that were there on Saturday night. Everything about it was wonderful. The music, the people, the coffee (thanks Nevin Street), and the cause, which stands above and beyond everything else. I am incredibly blessed by this, as we raised over $1,700 during the evening. Those fund will go directly to the Royal Hope Academy and My Father’s House Orphanage. It’s the most incredible thing I could take with me to Africa. As Cody and Ryan announced the funds raised at the end of the night, I couldn’t help but close my eyes and well up in tears as my heart beat fast for the children of Africa. I began imagining their faces, their names, and the joy in the moment I meet them. Words, hugs, and tears can not express my excitement for Uganda as I am 9 days away from departure. The Lord has been working on my heart so much, and I feel so many new things, especially a closeness and affirmation from the Lord. All of the processing in the world wouldn’t help me explain the changes that He has made in my heart over the progress of the last few years of my life. I know the Lord is calling me to Uganda and I am ready to serve.
Thank you: To everyone who was a part of the extended melody project.
