- I work for the World’s Largest Student Film Festival.
- I have not watched a recent non-CMF film since August, 2011.
- I’ve never seen Indiana Jones, The Lord of the Rings, or the Matrix films in their entirety.
The NorCal CMF team quickly caught on, as early as the first day of driving to California, that there are a lot of movies that I have not seen; many of which are “legendary”, “must-see’s”, and “classics”. While I would like to claim an interest in film diversity, I can’t honestly say that there are some films that have slipped through the cracks over the years. During the infamous MVNU J-Term, I spend one month watching over 30 movies that were recommended by my friends and co-workers. It was extremely fun, and I was able to enter into many more film conversations than ever before. In 2009, I was able to watch my first television series from start to finish as I was captivated by the stories and uncertainty in LOST. In 2011, I dove into the world of documentaries, from independents to the most controversial social conversations.
The Fall tour has wrapped up and I am fortunate to spend a few weeks off the road and preparing for the Spring tour. During this preparation time, I am willing to “sacrifice” for the sake of my position to commit to watching these films that people hassle me endlessly about. So here’s where you get involved:
1. Comment below with your name, email address, and a film that you think I should watch.
2. Tell me why the stated film is worth checking out. (no spoiler alerts)
3. When did you first watch this film and what can you remember about that experience?
I will be attempting to watch all of these films by February, 2012 (subject to content discretion). I am excited to see what films you believe are the best, as well as those which you can’t believe I have not seen. If you mention a film that I have already seen, I will notify you and offer up another opportunity to select af film. Time starts now.
