My social media life has taken a short vacation, as you can probably tell. In replacement, plenty of real-life has hit me.
Long story turned short, I am in the middle of one of the biggest transitions in my life. In just a few days I will be driving down to Dallas, Texas. This time, I won’t be driving back to Ohio. This last week marked my final days as a MVNU Admissions Counselor, one of the most unique and memorable life experiences that I have had. The role challenged me in ways that I could never expect in another work place. Meanwhile, the relationships that I built with co-workers, managers, and incoming students was life changing. While it is very hard to transition out of this position after only one year, I believe that this is the right direction for my life. The MVNU community will be greatly missed, however I know that those relationships will continue on, despite location and proximity. I have been challenged to go out and change the world with the Love of Christ, and have every intention of doing so.
While in Dallas, I will be living with my wonderful grandparents, whom I spent two summers with during college. They are an amazing blessing to my life, and I will enjoy getting the chance to help take care of them during a time of need. I will also be pursuing a career in sports, a dream of mine since I was a child, through the NBA Dallas Mavericks organization. I am working with them as they launch their new D-League team the Texas Legends. I really hope that I can prove myself within this organization and see where it takes me. I know it will be hard work, but I have always been one for a competitive challenge. God willing, this is going to make for a great story someday.
Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!
Oh, the places you’ll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored. There are games to be won. And the magical things you can do with that ball will make you the winning-est winner of all. Fame! You’ll be famous as famous can be, with the whole wide world watching you win on TV.
Except when they don’t. Because, sometimes, they won’t.
I’m afraid that some times you’ll play lonely games too. Games you can’t win ‘cause you’ll play against you.
All Alone!
Whether you like it or not, Alone will be something you’ll be quite a lot.
And when you’re alone, there’s a very good chance you’ll meet things that scare you right out of your pants. There are some, down the road between hither and yon, that can scare you so much you won’t want to go on.
You’ll get mixed up, of course, as you already know. You’ll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go. So be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact and remember that Life’s a Great Balancing Act. Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left.
Kid, you’ll move mountains!
So…be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray or Mordecai Ale Van Allen O’Shea, you’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So…get on your way!
