A few months ago, I started checking into a new website, called Klout. A few friends were getting plugged in, but it was still pretty new and had a lot of room for improvement. Over the last two months, rapport has grown and +K is showing up in the news and media, including a recent article that explains why President Obama has less Klout than Robert Scoble. (It’s not a matter of popularity, but the effective use of social media) Klout pulls statistics and content information from your social media mediums such as Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, YouTube, and more. A somewhat complicated process created the score, but is essentially your ability to drive action or influence others (Read more about the process here). I’ve got to hand it to founder, Joe Fernandez, as he has created a great formula and social media concept with plenty of opportunity for the future. As Klout has grown and developed its personal brand, more and more businesses are getting involved. Enter the Klout Perks. Users are able to qualify for product tests, special deals and discounts, and even VIP invitations to events based upon their social influences and location.

Here is me opening my first Klout Perk package that I received tonight. I’d say the bar has been set pretty high, but I am grateful that I am noted for my influence in Social Media. It’s one of my passions, and I love having the opportunity to network with people from all over the world. Beyond that, it is so cool to get new products and see how they compare to my current favorites.
Thanks Klout!
