Since working with Campus MovieFest, I have seen a lot of short films made by college students around the world… thousands of them! But the best part about this organization is when a special film comes along that tugs the heart strings, gives you chills, or precedes a tear falling. Young people have many stories to tell; they’re just looking for the proper outlet to do so. “The Strong One” is a film about a young boy that uses his imagination to deal with growing up. Josh Bielick, Nicholas sailer, Timothy Reavis, and Matt Harris from North Caroline State University teamed up and created this original piece. A collaboration of original sound, story, and visuals led them to the top as they received the 2011-2012 Best Picture Award at CMF Hollywood and had their film screened at the Cannes Film Festival. As I shared with thousands of people at Cannes, this was the film I discussed.

If you haven’t heard it recently, let this be a reminder. Do what you love. Find what makes your heart stir with emotion. And use whatever means that you can find to share your story. You never know who else needs to hear it.
